Dr Emma Ruth Gonsalvez (83) was found dead in her flat at Egmore on June 13 under suspicious circumstances.
Emmanuel Fernandez, her nephew, was arrested in connection with the case.
Justice P.Devadass, who rejected the bail petition filed by Fernandez, said that the post-mortem report mentioned that she died of asphyxia due to throttling.
The judge said a will dated April 19 this year, stated to have been executed by the deceased bequeathing her flat in favour of the petitioner, has been reported by the document expert to be forged.
Investigation was going on in both these cases.
"If the petitioner is released from jail on bail, the possibility of his meddling with the investigation and fleeing from justice cannot be ruled out", the judge said rejecting the bail plea.
