The Allahabad High Court today rejected the bail plea of former UP minister Gayatri Prasad Prajapati in connection with a gang rape case.
Justice Pratush Kumar of the Lucknow bench also turned down the plea of co-accused Vikas Verma.
Additional advocate general V K Sahi argued that the accused had gang raped a Chitrakoot woman and also tried to forcibly make physical relations with her minor daughter and, hence, the matter was very serious.
A sessions court had earlier allowed them bail but the HC had cancelled it as the prosecution was not given ample time to oppose the plea.
It had, however, permitted the accused to apply for bail afresh.
Prajapati, who was a minister in the previous Akhilesh Yadav Government in Uttar Pradesh, was arrested on March 15.
