The Madras High Court today rejected the plea of an NGO seeking ban on the entry of BJP's Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi into Tiruchirappalli District for addressing a rally tomorrow.
Petitioner M Elango, a trustee of New Era Trust and a Congressman based in Tiruchirappalli, had claimed that the public meeting to be headed by Modi would witness inflammatory speech and cause breach of peace in the city where people of all religions were living together peacefully.
Hence, he sought a ban on the entry of Modi for addressing the meeting.
The court rejected the plea after police informed that the BJP had agreed to abide by the conditions imposed by them for holding the meeting.
Justice Jayachandran and Justice M Venugopal recorded the submission of the police and closed the petition.
Police said BJP had agreed to abide by ten conditions which included speeches should not be against secularism; volunteers should not carry any arms; they should not travel on the top of the vehicles and the meeting should be completed before 10 pm.
On his first visit to Tamil Nadu after being named the party's Prime Ministerial candidate, Modi would be addressing the public meeting organised by the youth wing of BJP.
