Allahabad High Court today reserved its order on a PIL seeking direction for dissolving the Central Film and Censor Board and reconstituting it.
The Lucknow division bench comprising justice Imtiyaz Murtaza and justice Devendra Kumar Upadhaya heard the PIL today filed by Hindu Personal Law Board through its president Ashok Pandey.
It was alleged by the petitioner that films like 'Gangajal', 'Omkara' and to be released 'Ram Lila' using abusive language and also depicting Hindu deities Ram and Krishna in bad light are passed by the censor board.
The petitioner further claimed that it hurt the feelings of the community besides having a bad effect on society and children.
The petitioner also contendent that the release of such films is also against the provision of Cinematography act and prayed that the reconstituted board should include retired judges.
On the other hand, the PIL was opposed on behalf of Film and Censor Board saying that it was not maintainable and liable to be dismissed.
