The Delhi High Court today sought the response of the Centre and the Delhi government on a plea seeking implementation of the recommendations of an expert panel to improve the working condition of nurses across the country.
Asking why the authorities "are not serious" about it when there is a Supreme Court order in this matter, a bench of Acting Chief Justice Gita Mittal and Justice C Hari Shankar directed that they file a status report with regard to steps taken to implement the recommendations.
The panel was constituted as per the directions of the Supreme Court.
The court has now listed the matter for further hearing on August 1.
In January 2016, the apex court had asked the Centre to set up the expert committee to look into the grievances pertaining to service conditions of nurses employed with private hospitals and private nursing homes across the country.
Indian Professional Nurses Association, through their advocates Amit George and Swaroop George, has moved the High Court seeking direction to the Centre and the Delhi government to forthwith implement the recommendations of the panel.
The apex court had asked the Centre to consider making a law based on the recommendations of the expert committee.
