When Joppen's bail application came up, Justice S S Sateeshchandran directed the Registrar to get explanation of the Pathnamthitta Magistrate on the "unusual" remand period of the accused.
Normally when the accused is produced before court, they are remanded in custody for 15 days.
The court also issued a direction for producing the latest remand report of Joppen.
The scam pertains to alleged fraudulent deals by a firm run by a Saritha Nair and her friend Biju Radhakrishnan by luring clients for solar panel installation scheme.
