The Delhi High Court today asked the city police to file a status report on rape charges made by a married woman against a doctor.
The woman had alleged that the doctor raped her on the pretext of getting her son admitted to a Central University.
Justice Sunil Gaur asked the police to file the report by May 10 on an anticipatory bail of one Yaseen Ahmad.
Filing a petition in the court, Ahmed claimed himself to be a doctor presently posted at All India Institute of Medical Science. He sought anticipatory bail on the grounds that he has been falsely implicated in the case and that the complainant is his wife.
The man also claimed he has the copy of his marriage certificate with the woman as evidence.
To his submission, the court asked police to verify the documents and the certificate submitted by the man and file the report by next date of hearing the matter.
According to an FIR lodged in March by the woman, a resident of North-east Delhi's Maujpur area, Ahmed claimed himself to be a core committee member of the Aligarh Muslim University and promised admission to her son in the varsity.
She also alleged the accused had extracted huge amount of money and property papers from her on various occasions by citing false reasons. When she questioned him, Ahmad had drugged her and raped her.
The woman also accused Ahmad of blackmailing her and threatening her to circulate an obscene video tape of her.
Ahmad, in his petition, said it was a conspiracy by the victim's ex-husband.
