The Bombay High Court today asked a petitioner, who has sought contempt of court proceedings against Raj Thackeray, to submit video of an interview given by the MNS chief where he allegedly made a statement criticising the court.
A division bench of Justices S C Dharmadhikari and S B Shukre asked advocate Ejaz Naqvi, the petitioner, to submit either the video recording or transcript of the interview, given to news channels, within four weeks.
"We need to go through the full content of the remarks," the court said.
On February 5, 2012, the High Court rejected a petition filed by MNS seeking permission to hold a political rally at Shivaji Park in central Mumbai, where such programs are not allowed following an earlier High Court order as the area comes under 'silence zone'.
According to Naqvi, Raj, in his interviews, termed this ruling as "partisan".
"The remark cast an unwarranted aspersion of partiality against the Bombay High Court," states Naqvi's petition.
Raj, in his reply to the petition, has said he had not made any statement against the judiciary, though he was "upset" with the court.
Further hearing would take place on August 29.
