The Madras High Court Thursday stayed a recent government order declaring the Auto Components Manufacturing Industry as 'public utility service' (PUS).
Granting the interim stay, Justice V Parthiban said the GO suffers from "arbitrariness and non-application of mind."
This court is also satisfied that there is no public emergency or public interest involved in the auto components manufacturing industry..."
It also submitted that any emergency envisaged by them cannot be construed as a public emergency, adding that the declaration "is an extreme option since there are remedies available with the government."
