Presiding over a meeting convened by Women and Child Development department here, Chief Secretary P K Chaudhery said an individual health card would ensure regular health check-ups of the inmates and follow up treatment regarding specialised health services, if required.
The meeting had been convened to review the welfare steps taken by various departments of the state government on the recommendations of National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR).
Chaudhery said the Haryana government would ensure the safety, health and welfare of the inmates residing in the CCIs of the state at all cost.
The Police department had already appointed child welfare officers in each police station. The names of these officers along with their mobile number would be sent to the Women and Child Development department at the earliest.
"Due information will be given about these officials so that public is able to contact them in case of any need. A comprehensive training to sensitise these child welfare officers regarding problems of children and the law in this regard will also be organised in coordination with the WCD department within one month," he added.
The government also decided that the WCD department would organise workshops for all the NGOs as well as their staff who are running child care institutions to educate and sensitise them regarding parameters to be followed in these institutes for providing services for safety, health and welfare of children, he said.
Chaudhery said the government had also directed all the Deputy Commissioners in the state to ensure registration and regular inspection of all CCIs under the Juvenile Justice Act, 2000 and the Orphanages and Other Charitable Homes Act, 1960. (More)
