Health Ministry today exhorted its officials and other agencies concerned to mobilise community support to step up prevention efforts against dengue and urged them to assure help to states for effective management of the situation.
While reviewing the situation, Health Secretary B P Sharma said that the rush of fever patients needs to managed in a manner so as not to deprive serious cases of dengue special care and beds.
"For this purpose, quick diagnosis, screening and attention to all fever cases arriving in hospitals, would be necessary. Hospitals have been advised to emulate or innovate the system being followed at the RML Hospital. They have also been suggested to share the information on availability of beds to ensure bed availability to dengue patients requiring hospitalisation," an official release from the ministry said.
Regarding all government hospitals setting up separate 24x7 dedicated units for fever and dengue to be supervised by a senior doctor in order to ensure appropriate treatment of patients, he said that 55 fever clinics have been made functional from September 28.
"Delhi government has increased the bed strength for dengue patients from 945 to 4000 beds, and mobile clinics have been mobilised and route monitoring and working hours of staff in these clinics is being worked out.
The state government officials have been asked to collect data of the number of patients who have been taking advantage of these new initiatives," the release said.
