The US-based company, which had launched its local data centres in India in September last year, said state governments are also experimenting with the cloud platform to solve challenges in education, healthcare and agriculture.
"Healthcare, BFSI companies in the country are using local Microsoft cloud to embark on their digital transformation.
"Technology startups and technology solution providers are using the Microsoft cloud to roll out innovative solutions that empower employees, engage customers, optimise business processes and transform business models," Microsoft India Chairman Bhaskar Pramanik told reporters here.
Some of Microsoft's clients in India include Fortis Healthcare, Apollo Hospitals, Bank of Baroda, HDFC, Paytm, JustDial and Snapdeal.
He cited the example of Andhra Pradesh government that is using Microsoft's Azure machine learning to predict which students will struggle/drop out of school across its 10,000 schools.
The company is now in discussions with other state governments for deploying the solution.
