"As per the information available till 8 pm, the toll has reached 1,490," an official of State Disaster Management Department told PTI here.
The figure was 1,334 last evening.
Prakasam district has witnessed the maximum number of deaths at 321, followed by Guntur district (223), followed by Visakhapatnam (180), East Godavari (172), Vizianagaram (161), Nellore (122), Krishna (74), Srikakulam (58), Chittoor (56), Kadapa (37), Anantapur (32), Kurnool (31) and West Godavari (23).
The figures are for the period from May 18 till 8pm today.
However, rain brought relief in isolated places in Rayalaseema and coastal Andhra Pradesh.
Yesterday, the highest maximum temperature of 47 degrees Celsius was recorded at Jangamaheshwarapuram.
Heatwave conditions would prevail tomorrow over some parts in the districts of Krishna, Guntur, Prakasam and Nellore of coastal Andhra Pradesh, it said.
