The 71-year-old actress said there is a difference between looking good and looking sexy, reported Female First.
"I'm not sexy. If you see a painting you love, one that speaks to you, you can say, 'Oh my god, that painting is sexy.'
"When (people say) I'm a sexual object, I'd argue - I'm so not that. It's just something that gets hung on your back and you can never quite get it off," Mirren said.
The actress, who has long been an opponent of sexism and ageism in the film industry, also pointed out at the importance of making people forget the labels that often go with certain ages.
"You just have to let go of whatever it is and move on.
