Folk artists attired in their traditional outfits and students carrying placards joined the 'padyatra', organised by Odisha's Culture department in the temple city on the occasion of World Heritage Day yesterday.
The walk, flaged off by Tourism and Culture Minister Ashok Panda, started from the famous Rajarani temple and culminated at Ekamra Bana after passing through several sites including Lingaraj temple.
"The purpose of the heritage walk was to create awareness among the people about the significance of proper conservation and preservation of the historic monuments for future generation," Panda said.
Tourism and culture secretary Arvind Padhee said the walk was organised in order to make people aware of the importance of heritage sites.
Promiment among those who participated in the padyatra were Bhubaneswar MP Prasanna Patsani and MLA Priyadarshi Mishra.
