The contraband was found in an agriculture field near Border Out Post (BOP) Daoke in Amritsar sector, said BSF DIG M F Farooqui.
Two packets of heroin, weighing two kgs and smuggled from Pakistan, had a street value of Rs 10 crore, he said.
BSF jawans noticed suspicious movements of two persons near the Indo-Pak border in the wee hours and challenged them.
When they did not pay any heed to BSF's warning, the troopers opened fire, the DIG said adding the two, however, managed to escape taking advantage of the darkness.
