India's outgoing chief coach Michael Nobbs will be given a send-off by Hockey India (HI) in Patiala on Saturday, Jiji Thomson, the director general of Sports Authority of India (SAI) said today.
Nobbs, whose contract officially ends at the end of this month, is leaving for Patiala's National Institute of Sports (NIS) on Friday.
Once there he will be conducting coaching classes for "students and hockey coaches".
"As per the contract we have to give him one month's time. So we are sending him to Patiala where he will teach the students and hockey coaches the finer aspects of the game. On 20th he will be given a send-off in Patiala by Hockey India," Thomson said.
Nobbs returned to India on Monday to settle his dues with the SAI.
The Australian's contract was prematurely terminated last week after a series of dismal performances over the last 12 months, including a last-place finish at the London Olympics last August.
