Four persons, who had allegedly hijacked a truck carrying electronic goods worth Rs 26 crore from south Delhi here, were arrested by the police and the entire robbed consignment recovered.
The accused have been identified as Pramod (25), Sarvesh (27), Vinod Kumar Yadav (29) and his brother Parmod Yadav (25).
The incident took place on the intervening night of Tuesday and Wednesday when a container carrying Samsung Company's mobile components including IC chips, assembly covers etc worth Rs 26.14 crore were robbed at knife point.
Police received a call around 12:30 am and when a team reached the spot, driver of the container Ghanshyam informed that he works at A to Z Transport Company, Ghaziabad, UP.
At about 11:30 PM, he along with Sarvesh (driver of another truck) were going to Noida to deliver the goods when the robbery took place.
"The way the robbery was executed and the GPS device in the truck was deactivated, it was clear that an insider was involved in the incident. Antecedents of present and former employees of A to Z Transport were verified," said DCP (southeast) Mandeep Randhawa.
During the course of investigation, it also came to knowledge that similar robberies were attempted twice by some persons along with the drivers of A to Z Transport Company.
