The duo decided to part ways because Walsh wanted to move to New York, but Duff, 29, wanted to stay in LA, reported People magazine.
"They weren't on the same page. He wants to move to New York, but her life is in LA," a source said.
The couple only went Instagram official, last month, but have actually been dating since earlier this summer.
The former Disney star made her social media debut with Walsh in mid-October by posting a photo of the two kissing with the following caption, "Date night with J."
Walsh was the first relationship that Duff had been public about since splitting from hockey player Mike Comrie back in 2014. The two share a four-year-old son together, Luca.
