Activists of the Hindu Jagran Manch (HJM), a right wing organisation, today created ruckus at a Christian prayer service at Kasba Jobat village in the Jobat region near here, alleging that people were being converted by allurement, police said.
After being informed, the police sprung into action and brought the situation under control after talking to both the groups, Jobat Sub-Divisional Officer of Police (SDOP) Anand Singh Vaskala said.
The incident occurred when one Nobel Emmanuel was holding a prayer service at his farm house.
"HJM complained to the police that religious conversion through allurement was on at the prayer meeting. We are investigating the matter. On the other hand, no complaint from Emmanuel has reached us," District Superintendent of Police (SP) Akilesh Jha told PTI.
Later, the Rashtriya Isai Mahasabha (RIM), a Christian body met Union External Minister Sushma Swaraj and handed over a memorandum to her in Bhopal this afternoon, seeking an end to attacks on Christian community across the country.
"An RIM delegation brought the Alirajpur incident to the Swaraj's notice, alleging that their place of worship is under attack by the Hindu right wing organisation," former Madhya Pradesh Catholic Church spokesman Father Anand Muttungal said.
