The Hindu Makkal Katchi today filed a PIL in the Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court, seeking a direction to the state government to provide compensation to the families of Hindu organisation leaders who were murdered since 1994.
In his petition, HMK president, M.Solaikannan, claimed that since 1994, more than 50 Hindu organisation leaders, including Hindu Munnani vice president Rajagopalan, had been murdered. In some cases, the accused had been convicted. The petitioner claimed that the state government had not given any money to the families of Hindu leaders who were murdered.
It was the duty of the government to provide adequate compensation to the families. The government was applying different yardstick for Hindu families and others, he alleged.
