Home Minister Rajnath Singh will visit Ranchi on September 23 where he will take stock of the security situation in Jharkhand, one of the worst Naxal-hit states.
During the visit, the Home Minister will have a meeting with Chief Minister Hemant Soren, top civil and police officers and review the law and order situation there, a Home Ministry official said.
Singh is expected to outline the new NDA government's strategy in dealing with the Maoists, considered to be the biggest internal security threat in the country.
In 2013, there were 383 incidents of violence reported in Jharkhand in which 150 civilians and security personnel were killed.
This year too, the state has witnessed more than 150 violent incidents that claimed lives of nearly 70 people so far.
Singh is also expected to visit a few camps of the security forces, engaged in anti-Naxal operations, and interact with the jawans.
The Home Minister last week said the government was ready to hold talks with the Maoists if they shun violence and come to the negotiating table.
