Country's second largest two-wheeler player Honda Motorcycle and Scooter today launched CB Hornet 160R, India's first bike meeting BS-IV emission standards, at Rs 79,900 (ex-showroom New Delhi).
The company said the model will be available for commercial sale at 21 cities from tomorrow and across the country through its 4,250 dealerships from the new year.
The 160-cc Honda CB Hornet 160R comes in two variants -- Single Disc and Dual Disc with CBS-- and marks the 15th bike model from the Japanese company's stable this year in the country.
To target the youth who are yet to be wooed by Honda bikes, it also launched an exclusive mobile app for the model, company president and chief executive Keita Muramatsu told reporters here this evening.
"The CB Hornet 160R is a faster, smarter, sportier machine for the youth," he said, adding that the model was keenly awaited ever since it was showcased in August 2015 at Honda RevFest.
"With this, we have delivered on our promise of revitalising our product portfolio with 15 new products in 2015," he said.
Muramatsu said the CB Hornet 160R is the first motorcycle in its category to meet BS-IV norms, well ahead of the regulatory leeway to comply with the norms by April 2017.
Senior Vice-President for sales and marketing Yadvinder Singh Guleria said the new model meets the rising preference for higher capacity bikes, especially in the 150-180cc segment, which has been gaining traction of late.
