Hooda announces assistance of Rs 25 lakh to kin of Lt Col
Press Trust of India Chandigarh Haryana chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda has announced that the state government will provide assistance of Rs 25 lakh to the family of the deceased Lt Col Mahipal Singh, who along with four other soldiers, died in a gunfight with armed rebels in Africa's South Sudan.
Hailing from Haryana, the deceased Army officer was deployed in Sudan as part of the UN Mission in the Republic of South Sudan, an official release said here, adding that Hooda conveyed his condolences to the members of the bereaved family.
