It was a hot and humid day in the national capital with the mercury settling four notches above normal and humidity levels shooting up to 80 per cent.
"The maximum temperature was recorded at 40.1 degrees Celsius, four notches above normal, while the minimum settled at 30.8 degrees Celsius, three notches above normal," a Meteorological department official said.
The humidity levels oscillated between 80 per cent and 36 per cent.
The weatherman has forecast partly cloudy sky for tomorrow morning with the possibility of rains towards the afternoon which is likely to bring some respite from the scorching heat.
"The maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to hover around 38 and 29 degrees Celsius," the official added.
Yesterday, the maximum and minimum temperatures were 40.1 and 28.5 degrees Celsius respectively.
