It was a humid day in Delhi with both the maximum and minimum temperatures settling a notch above normal.

"The maximum temperature was recorded at 37.2 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature settled at 28.2 degrees Celsius, both a notch above normal," a Met official said.

The humidity levels oscillated between 86 and 52 per cent.

According to the weather department, Delhi may have to wait longer for heavy monsoon showers as it has predicted only very light rain during the next two-three days.

Since the onset of monsoon on July 5, the Safdarjung observatory has recorded 25.4 mm of rainfall.

Only 1.4 mm of rain occurred in first five days of the month. Normally, Delhi records an average of 49.9 mm of rain in the first nine days of July, but it is 46 per cent less at 26.8 mm during this period, officials said.

One of the primary reasons behind the scant rainfall is the delayed onset of monsoon in the region, the officials said.

The IMD had declared on July 5 the onset of monsoon over Delhi, which normally reaches by June 29.

A senior scientist at the IMD said though cloudy conditions will prevail in Delhi, not much rainfall is expected in the next two-three days.
