Hottest June in Jaipur since 1981 as heatwave sweeps Raj

Relentless heatwave conditions today swept across Rajasthan, with state capital Jaipur experiencing the hottest day in June in 33 years at 46.3 degrees Celsius.
Normal life was affected in the desert state with the day temperature ranging between 43.6 and 47.4 degrees Celsius, according to the local MeT office. Bikaner recorded the state's highest temperature of 47.4 degrees.
In the Pink City of Jaipur, the people woke up to a hot and humid morning. The heatwave grew severe as the day progressed.
The city experienced the hottest day in June since 1981, according to records available at the MeT office in Jaipur which was established in 1981.

Most roads in heatwave-gripped cities wore deserted look since forenoon, and the people were seen taking shelter under trees or bus stops' shades.
A large number of heat stroke and sun burn cases were reported at the SMS hospital here, official sources said.
Churu recorded a maximum temperature of 47.3 degrees C, followed by Sriganganagar 47, Kota 46.8, Jaisalmer 46.4, Barmer and Jodhpur 45.5 each, Ajmer 44.7 and Udaipur 43.6 degrees.
No respite from the blistering heatwave conditions is expected in the next 48 hours in the state, according to a MeT forecast.
