Sneha R Mirchandani, around 38 years of age, ended her life by hanging herself to the ceiling with a 'dupatta' at home, Kapurbawdi police station inspector Sushil Kadam said.
As per a statement given by Sneha's husband Rajesh, who works with a private firm as a manager, he went to drop their two children to school yesterday morning, Kadam said.
When he returned home and rang the bell, nobody opened the door. Therefore, he used the set of keys with him to open the house and then he went to sleep.
Police said that the relatives of the deceased had brought down the body before they could arrive and placed it on the dining table.
A case of accidental death was registered and the body sent for postmortem to Thane Civil hospital from where it was shifted to the JJ Hospital in Mumbai.
A probe was on to find the reason behind the extreme step taken by the woman, Kadam added.
