Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur paid rich tributes to former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi on his 74th birth anniversary today.
He paid floral tributes at Rajiv Gandhi's statue at Chhota Shimla here and administered an oath of unity and integrity to the gathering on the occasion.
Education Minister Suresh Bhardwaj, Mayor Kusum Sadrate, Deputy Mayor Rakesh Sharma and councillors also paid floral tributes to the former prime minister.
Born on 20th August, 1944, Rajiv Gandhi served as prime minister from 1984 to 1989. He was assassinated on May 21, 1991. His birth anniversary is celebrated as 'Sadbhavna Diwas'.
On this occasion, Himachal Pradesh Congress held several programmes to pay tributes to Rajiv Gandhi.
