HP govt giving adequate funds for devp of tribal areas: Pharka

Himachal Pradesh Chief Secretary V C Pharka today said the state government is providing adequate funds for the development of tribal areas in the state.
"Adequate funds are being made available under various schemes and the pace of development has been accelerated in these areas. As a result, these areas are on par with other parts in terms of economic growth, development and prosperity," he said.
Pharka, who himself hails from Kinnaur, said, "All-round development of the district has been ensured by the present government. As of today it has a vast network of roads, many educational and health institutes and other basic facilities."

Presiding over the annual function (Toshim-2017) of Kinnaur Welfare Society in the district, he said horticulture activities have been given a big boost in the district and presently it is contributing enormously to the state GDP. Per capita income of Kinnaur district has also gone above Rs one lakh.
Pharka stressed that tribal areas of the state are repositories of rich traditions and culture which must be preserved at all costs for generations to come.
He honoured retired DGP I B Negi on behalf of the society for his contribution to the state. As many as 45 staff of Central and state governments belonging to Kinnaur district, who retired in the last two years, were also honoured by the society.
