The Himachal Pradesh government is planning to introduce Personal Rapid Transit (PRT) pods in Shimla and Dharamsala to decongest heavy traffic in both cities, Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh today said.
The feasibility report to set up PRT pods in Shimla and Dharamsala has been prepared, Singh said in a meeting of Town and Country Planning, HIMUDA and Urban Development here.
Apart from providing rapid and personal taxi service, it would also be a major tourist attraction, he said.
Singh said that 300 houses would be constructed at Krishna Nagar in Shimla and the Centre approved Rs 34 crore for the project in February 2013.
The first instalment of Rs 9.20 crore has already been released by the Central government, he added.
