The Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee (HPCC) president Sukhvinder Singh Sukkhu today challenged former chief minister P K Dhumal to either prove the charges levelled against him in the charge sheet issued by BJP within a month or quit politics.
Dubbing the charge sheet against the government as "bundle of lies," he said that charges that he had purchased land from a woman and rendered her "landless" was false and motivated and said that the women still has 3.14 bigha of land in her possession.
"Dhumal should prove the charge within a month or quit politics and in case the charge is proved, I will quit," he told reporters.
Sukkhu said that he did purchase a piece of land from a woman near Fagu area in Shimla district in the name of his wife, which was no offence and the charge that the women has been "rendered landless" is totally false.
"The BJP charge sheet is a bundle of lies and a sinister attempt to defame the government and divert the attention of people," he said, adding that he would also examine the legal options regarding the baseless charges made against him.
The HPCC chief said the BJP has only mentioned the news reports and issues raised by it in the Legislative Assembly and none of the charge has been substantiated.
Alleging that benami land deals were transacted during the BJP regime on a large scale and Dhumal was himself Chief Patron of Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA), charged with several irregularities.
