Union HRD Minister M M Pallam Raju today stressed the need for having relevant and strong linkages between educational institutes and industry in the country.
"Linkages with the industry will give us the avenue for relevant application of knowledge that has been acquired (in the institutes).
"This will happen if there is an effective and strong linkage of industry because eventually the knowledge that we gain here has to be applied in real life," Raju said.
Speaking after participating in the 'Graduation Day' of Muffakham Jah College of Engineering and Technology here, he hoped the institutes of higher learning will move into the direction where relevant and strong linkages with industry are established.
"That is how we can improve and increase our investment in research and development and I hope the industry will also respond to these forward looking measures," he said.
"India has become a master in arena of information technology, but we have to go beyond services. We have to get into the era of knowledge creation and that is where the real strength of our nation lies. To get in that mode the institutions have to play a role and we have to have Incubation Centres and Entrepreneurship on campuses (for training of students)," Raju added.
