According to sources, as per the present norms for starting a new Kendriya Vidyalaya school, 10 acres of land is needed in rural areas while 8 acre land is required if the school is to come up in an urban area.
For Metros, 4 acres of land is required.
"There are sometimes issues related to availability of the land. So it is being considered that the present norms may be relaxed," a source said.
Officials said that the issue has been discussed at the highest level in the HRD ministry including minister Prakash Javadekar and a decision in this regard may be taken in the coming days.
