The Haryana government today suspended two policemen after a video was posted on Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar's official Twitter account which showed them fleeing a crime scene, a senior official said.
Sub-inspector Ishwar Singh and head constable Pawan Kumar have been suspended with immediate effect, Rakesh Gupta, additional principal secretary to the chief minister, said.
He gave directions for their suspension during a review meeting of the government's Social Media Grievances Tracker.
In a statement, Gupta said the video showed a few people stabbing a youth with a knife in Jind district recently.
"Sub-inspector Ishwar Singh and head constable Pawan Kumar who were present near the place of incident fled the spot instead of saving the youth. Moreover, they did not even inform the police station nearby," he said.
In another video on Khattar's Twitter handle, driver Shankar Singh and conductor Vijay Kumar of Charkhi Dadri depot of Haryana Transport department were seen misbehaving with passengers, Gupta said. They were also suspended.
In Gram Panchayat Aatta of Panipat district, a video showed a 100-metre patch on the main road filled with water. The deputy commissioner has been asked to resolve the issue within 21 days.
Gupta said the SMGT system is helping resolve public grievances. The initiative was started in May, 2017.
