Haryana Skill Development Mission (HSDM) today signed a pact with Maruti Suzuki India (MSIL) to enhance employability and soft skills of diploma students and training of trainers of Polytechnics as per the needs of manufacturing and auto industry.
The pact was signed by HSDM Mission Director, Subhash Chandra Goel, and Vice-president, Maruti Suzuki Training Academy, MSIL, Mukesh Kumar Gupta, in the presence of Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that the MoU would not only help in economic development of Haryana, but would also help to fulfill the aspirations of youth for good quality, better paying jobs and self-employment opportunities, according to an official release.
Khattar further said that this would enable the state to take advantage of its favourable demographic profile.
With a large pool of skilled people, Haryana has the opportunity to become skill provider for the country, the CM said.
Under the MoU, at least five teachers from each Polytechnic would be trained as part of the "train the trainer feature".
Final year diploma students of Mechanical Engineering, Automobile Engineering and others would be given practical hands-on training in the industry campus. Soft skills would be provided to the final year students, the release said.
Technical components and soft skills would be part of the training. At least 1,000 students and 150 trainers, of which five trainers would be taken from each Polytechnic, would be trained by the MSIL in first phase.
Training would be imparted free of cost by the MSIL Training Academy, Gurgaon.
Khattar asked MSIL to come forward to establish a driving school, preferably one in each district, certify roadside mechanics, provide literacy and skills to semi-skilled persons who could not get the opportunity of formal education and rope in persons in skill development who are out of formal education system.
MSIL assured that it would submit an action plan on the vision of the Chief Minister, and a calendar of activities to be followed as per the MoU, the release added.
