"Our aim is to provide cost-effective features for Home & SOHO customers across India through our strong distributor network on both online and offline platform. With this, we aim to gain a market share of 40 per cent and lead the segment," Huawei Telecommunications Director Sales (Devices Business) P Sanjeev told PTI.
Huawei estimates Indian broadband networking device to be around 3.5 million units per annum.
The company sells its devices through telecom operators.
He said that the company has adopted new strategy following telecom regulator TRAI recommending exemption of landline connection from licence fee for five years and ending termination charge on calls made from them to fuel its growth.
"We have identified a strong demand in the market which echoes the need of one fixed broadband networking connection for at least four wifi users and we are optimistically working to bridge this gap," Sanjeev said.
The company has initially started selling range of its broadband devices in 11 cities including Delhi, Chandigarh, Mumbai, Pune, Kolkata, Chennai, Bengaluru and Hyderabad.
