A key operative of outlawed Islamist militant outfit HuJi, who received training on arms handling in Pakistan, has been arrested in Bangladesh.
Harkat-ul Jihad Al-Islami leader Md Ibrahim, 40, was nabbed from the capital's Sayedabad area last night, Deputy Commissioner Jahangir Hossain Matubbar said today.
"Ibrahim, who had recently received training from abroad, was the chief of the organisation's operations wing," he said.
"The detained was taught about arms handling, including AK-47, and their mechanism in the training titled 'Attack on soft and hard targets.' In the training, they [Huji-B members] were also taught how to hurl bombs," Deputy Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police Masudur Rahman said.
"They [Huji-B members] went to Pakistan in three phases for taking training and before going there, they took a seven-day preliminary training at a madrasa in Bangladesh," he was quoted as saying by the Dhaka Tribune.
The HuJI is a Pakistan-based militant group with an affiliate in Bangladesh.
Bangladesh police had arrested four suspected operatives of outlawed HuJI militant outfit and busted two laboratories used for making bombs late last month.
