A woman has lodged a complaint alleging that her husband had divorced her by pronouncing "triple talaq" over phone, police said.
Based on the complaint filed by the woman, an investigation is underway, J Manjula, Inspector of Police, Women's police station at Central Crime Station.
We are consulting legal experts to ascertain whether a case can be booked under the recent Ordinance on triple talaq, she told PTI.
In the complaint, the victim stated that she got married in January 2017 and her husband Mohammed Muzammil started harassing her just after one month of the marriage.
He intensified the torture after a girl child was born in February this year.
"On November 28, he (husband) called me on WhatsApp and abused. He pronounced talaq, talaq and talaq and disconnected the call. I need justice. I came to know that he is looking to get married with another woman," she said.
The police official further said they are seeking cyber experts assistance also to crack the WhatsApp call data.
