The programme envisages government functionaries at various levels being made in-charge for the 425 designated areas for the purpose of undertaking cleanliness campaign.
As per the programme, designated teams would visit the locality concerned and make a plan for initiating cleanliness.
Speaking after inaugurating the programme here, Rao said the designated teams should also find out the needs of the people, in addition to the cleanliness drive, a release from his office said.
The teams should give a report on what they are going to do and what the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) and the government should do for the purpose of preparing plans, he said.
He thanked Union Minister Badaru Dattatreya for getting Rs 75 crore sanctioned from 'Niti Ayog' for the programme. The state government is spending about Rs 200 crore now on the event, the release said.
Thanking the Chief Minister for involving him in the programme, Governor E S L Narasimhman suggested that the initiative be expanded to the entire state after its success in Hyderabad.
Dattatreya praised the Chief Minister for taking up the campaign, the release added.
