Electing to bat first after winning the toss at Academy Ground, Hyderabad got off to a poor start when medium pacer Buddhadev Mangaldas had T Suman caught by Sagun Kanat for 13.
Next man-in Ravi Teja and Reddy added 101 runs for the second-wicket partnership to steady the innings before Mangaldas returned to dismiss the former for 54. Teja was caught by Sagun Kamat.
Hanuma Vihari (44 batting) and B P Sandeep (23 batting) played cautiously thereafter, adding 47 runs for the unbeaten fourth wicket when the play ended for the day.
For Goa, Mangaldas was the most successful bowler with two for 40.
