Patrolling has been intensified in hilly and insurgency prone areas of the state and special deployment has been made in about 100 km off the border in remote areas of Dhalai and North Tripura district, Director General of Police, S Balasubramanium said today.
The BSF has also been alerted to ensure that militants do not enter Indian territory through the Tripura border, he said.
IG, Police Control Nepal Das said, all precautions like regular checking of vehicles and increased security in guarding vital installations have been taken.
The 11 militant outfits of the Northeast region, six from Manipur, three from Assam and one each from Meghalaya and Tripura have jointly called for the boycott of the Independence Day from 1:00 am to 5:30pm.
