The '3Idiots' producer said he is now too old to change himself for good.
"I can't make myself a lovable person. I am too old to change now and it somehow works against my movies too. I am not into image building at all. I don't even pay media for a goody image. You will hardly find me on the cover of any national daily. I have always been known for my arrogant nature and 'cuss' words," Chopra said on the sidelines of NFDC Film Bazaar today, where he was a part of a master class with director Sudhir Mishra.
"I have been fighting with it from a long time and my wife Anu (Anupama Chopra) is helping me out from last 20 years. My arrogance is the result of my insecurities of being from a small town and unable to speak good English.
"I came from a place where I grew up listening to Mirza Ghalib and I had no idea who Shakespeare was. My only education was listening to my father. When I was exposed to the world of showbiz, I used offence as a defence mechanism," the 64-year-old filmmaker said.
"I get bored very easily and I took up this film as the biggest challenge of my life. It was a challenge because I don't know English well but I wrote the whole story with Abhijat (Joshi), with whom I have been working for 30 years. I feel it is one of the satisfying movies of my career," he said.
Chopra's much talked about production venture 'PK', starring Aamir Khan, Sanjay Dutt, Sushant Singh Rajput and Anushka Sharma hits theatres on December 18.
