A 16-year-old girl allegedly committed suicide by jumping off the terrace of an eleven- storey building in Mulund in central Mumbai, police said.
The incident took place last night and two youths and a minor girl were arrested for abetment of suicide today, police said.
The deceased identified as Simran Keni, was a class X student studying in Jay Bharat High School and Junior College.
Simran's parents told the police that one Sohail Sheikh (18) used to harass their daughter and had proposed her several times.
"We found that the victim had written 'I Hate' and an incomplete mobile number on her hand. After investigations we found that the number belonged to Sheikh," said a police officer in Mulund police station.
After recording the statements of Simran's parents, the police arrested Sheikh.
Later, police also arrested Kamlesh Vaishnav (19) and a minor girl, the victim's classmate, for allegedly passing on Sheikh's message to her.
Sheikh and Vaishnav are college students from the same institution.
The police said that Sheikh has been stalking the victim for the last two years despite being warned by victim's father.
"The victim had rejected his proposal several times. However, since she was continued to be stalked and harassed by Sheikh and others, Simran took this extreme step," the police officer said.
