Actress Michelle Pfeiffer says there was a time she became extremely choosy about the roles that it inadvertently made her "unhirable".
The 58-year-old actress opened up to director Darren Aronofsky for the Interview magazine where she talked about her eternal romance with acting and how her life choices took her on a different journey in work.
"I was pretty careful about where I shot, how long I was away, whether or not it worked out with the kids' schedule. And I got so picky that I was unhirable. And then... I don't know, time just went on," Pfeiffer told Aronofsky, when he asked why she has been missing from the scene lately.
The actress adds she has always been attached to acting and is open to different kinds of roles.
"I've never lost my love for acting. I feel really at home on the movie set. I'm a more balanced person honestly when I'm working.
"I'm more open now, my frame of mind, because I really want to work now, because I can. And these last few years I've had some really interesting opportunities," Pfeiffer adds.
This also marks Pfeiffer's first appearance on a magazine cover in years.
The actress was last seen in 2013 film "The Family".
