In a written reply to a question in the Rajya Sabha, Human Resource Development (HRD) Minister Smriti Irani said ICHR has indicated that there are at present six special research projects in hand.
As per the details provided by the minister in her reply, an expenditure of over Rs 1.5 crore had already been made on the project 'Dictionary of Martyrs: India's Freedom Struggle (1857-1947)'.
Other projects which are underway include 'Documents on Economic History During the British Rule in Northern and Western India in the late Nineteenth Century: Quality of Life', 'Translation of Dutch Sources (1617-30)' and 'Survey, Collection and Documentation of Archival Sources of North East India', all of which started in 2012.
Another ongoing project at ICHR is 'Dictionary of Socio Economic and Administrative Terms in Indian/South Asian Inscriptions', which was sanctioned in 1990.
