Terming skills development as a major priority for the country, ICICI Bank managing director Chanda Kochhar today said the number of youths to be trained under the bank's different initiatives in this field would reach nearly 2.5 lakh by March next year.
"Skills development is a major priority for the country. In order to provide good employment opportunities to the large number of youths, we have to develop their skills," Kochhar said.
She was speaking at the convocation ceremony of the ICICI Academy for Skills at Dudhia village near here.
Kochhar said ICICI Bank, through this academy, has so far imparted skills to 1.5 lakh youths under different employment-oriented programmes. Among them, 50 per cent are women.
She said the leading private lender has set a target to take the number of skilled youths to 2.5 lakh by March 2018.
