Top men shuttlers Kidambi Srikanth and H S Prannoy were today felicitated by the IDBI Federal in Hyderabad and also presented with the prize money under their programme, Quest For Excellence, in association with national badminton coach Pulella Gopichand.
Srikanth bagged back to back men's singles titles at the Indonesian Open Super Series Premier tournament and the Australian Open Super Series event and was rewarded with a total cash award of Rs six lakh for these two magnificent feats by IDBI Federal, a media release said.
Prannoy was presented with a prize money of Rs 2 lakh for his super display at the Indonesia Super Series Premier event in which he stunned Rio Olympics silver medallist Lee Chong Wei of Malaysia and reigning Olympic champion Chen Long in successive matches to reach the men's singles semi finals.
"By winning two titles in two weeks, Srikanth is slated to break into top 10 rankings next week. He has made the country proud by this historic feat," said Karthik Raman, Chief Marketing Officer, IDBI Federal.
"We are confident that Quest For Excellence will prove to be a great support to the sport and will help bring many laurels for our country," he said further.
