Confusion prevails among organisers of the Goa International Film Festival of India (IFFI) 2013 on whether President Pranab Mukherjee will be inaugurating the eleven-day event, beginning on November 20 here.
"I am hearing it from you for the first time. It's not true that President of India will be inaugurating the festival... These are rumours," Director of Film Festival Shankar Mohan told PTI today.
Press Information Bureau (PIB) Additional Director General K M Ravindran told reporters in Chennai yesterday that Mukherjee will be inaugurating the event.
"If President of India is coming there would be unprecedented security. We would have been informed much in advance," Mohan said.
Entertainment Society of Goa (ESG) Vice Chairman Vishnu Surya Wagh told PTI there was no intimation available so far with the organisers about the President inaugurating the festival.
"I will have to check out. At least till now we have no intimation," Wagh added.
During the event, as many as 326 movies from different sections, including 176 foreign films from 74 countries, will be screened.
National and international film personalities are scheduled to attend the festival.
Bollywood personalities including Kamal Hassan, Rekha, Asha Bhonsle, Kajol to name a few would be present at the inauguration.
