On his maiden visit to the two districts, Kumar held a detailed meeting with DIG Danesh Rana and the Rajouri and Poonch SPs, respectively, Mubassir Latifi and Shamsher Hussain, along with senior police officers.
Kumar stressed on the need to strengthen the counter infiltration grid, saying that desperate attempts have been made from across the border to push militants into India.
Although all such attempts had been foiled, there was a need to maintain the utmost vigil, not only at the LoC but also in the interiors of the state, he said.
There were some forces at work who were desperate to vitiate the atmosphere in the state, he added.
